The Burgh Coffee house on Commercial Street is a new independent coffee shop in the centre of Dundee, slap bang between the main shopping streets and the museum district.
It has an artfully decorated interior on two levels, with a range of single seats at the window and a few tables and sofas inside. Upstairs there are booths and a library of encyclopedia. It has the feel of an artful loft apartment.
The high ceilings and well-spaced chairs mean it feels relaxed and pleasant – a nice place to escape from the shopping hordes nearby.
The range of coffee and food is standard – croissants and sandwiches – and the espresso was ‘ordinary’, but overall it’s a welcome addition to the city’s coffee choices.
